BRING: Snacks & Water to carry with you

DROP OFF/PICK UP:  Since parking is limited, please be sure to drop off/pick up your young performer at the lawn(s) located in front of the Observatory/Planetarium's main entrance

Southern California’s gateway to the cosmos! Join Looking Ahead as we look through telescopes, explore exhibits and see a live show in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium!

The Looking Ahead event will be ending at 4:45pm,but here is an optional event if you're interested!

Each month the Observatory offers a sunset hike led by a Park Ranger and a Museum Guide. The hike starts on the Observatory's West Terrace, proceeds up the Charlie Turner trail to the Berlin Forest on the hill just north of the Observatory, and then returns to the West Terrace. The distance covered is about half a mile over the course of an hour at a very moderate pace with stops along the way to discuss the highlights and history of Griffith Park and objects visible in the evening sky.


WEAR: Comfortable clothes that allow full range of motion & socks

PARKING: Parking near the Observatory and on Western Canyon Road, cost $4/hr.
